From 1st July 2022, people will need to pay between 20 and 50% more to park when visiting our town centre shops and restaurants. The planned changes include increasing the cost of the first hour of parking in town centre car parks from £3.00 to £3.60, which is over double the charge for parking anywhere else in Surrey.
This comes at a time when our town centre businesses are getting back on their feet following COVID lockdowns and when their customers are already facing cost of living increases.
The extra revenue raised will be used to shore up the Council’s finances following two years of financial mismanagement.
