Local residents have supported efforts made by Guildford Conservatives to stop plans for a high-rise Guildford town centre with towers of up to 13 storeys, criticised for being out of keeping with the town's historic scene and character.
The proposals also did not provide the level of affordable housing Guildford needs, adding to the Lib Dem-led Council's failure to deliver affordable homes in Guildford.
The Lib Dems both publicly supported and opposed the plans, placing political opportunism above of the interests of Guildford residents.
Conservatives are calling for key changes to these plans, reducing height in the town centre and ensuring that any plans have the support of residents.
