Libraries across Surrey will re-open to browsing from Monday, December 7.
Working in line with current national safety guidance, several Surrey Libraries are set to welcome back visitors after the end of lockdown. Readers will be able to browse for books by following directional arrows that will guide them safely through the space.
From December 7th, Surrey libraries at select locations will offer:
- Browsing and borrowing items in libraries.
- Use of the Click and Collect service, allowing customers to return their items, collect Ready Reads and reserved books.
- Use of the Public PCs and printing at relevant locations.
- Online book reservations and pick up from the nearest open library.
- The Library Direct Home library service for vulnerable members of the community.
Customers can also access over 30,000 eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines and eComics online and take part in creative and interactive events, including Christmas themed ones, via Facebook. New library members can register for free online to access all digital resources.
Extensive Covid-19 safety measures will be in place, including rigorous cleaning in libraries and hand sanitiser provided at library entrances, limited numbers of customers allowed in libraries at any one time, and quarantining of returned items.
To minimise queues, visitors are encouraged to go to libraries on their own and limit their visit to 30 minutes. Visitors will be required to follow safety precautions including the wearing of masks inside the building and are asked to comply with NHS Test and Trace requirements.
Borrowed items are not due back until branches are open again but click and collect libraries are accepting returns when collecting items or via the “out of hours” return box.
Addlestone, Cranleigh and Frimley Green, as well as some Community Partnered libraries will remain closed until further notice but continue to offer Click and Collect services. Before visiting any library and for more information, please check the library website.
