Whilst we haven’t been able to organise any ‘in person’ events in the last few months, we have been able to meet virtually via Zoom, starting with an excellent Q & A with Angela Richardson, our MP, back in June. This proved to be very popular with our members. Angela updated us all with what has been happening in Westminster and answering your questions on what is important to you - both locally and nationally. The date for the next Q & A with Angela will be Friday 16th October at 7.00 pm An invitation will be sent to members in due course.
We were also joined virtually by Jacob Rees Mogg in July, who entertained and informed us all. It was lovely to see so many of our Young Conservatives join this event, and they certainly gave Jacob an opportunity to express his views in his indomitable style! We are endeavouring to continue with this type of event and I would love to hear from you if there is anyone in particular that you would like to see. Email me on [email protected] with any suggestions.
Future Events
I long to be able to fill this section with numerous events but as the “Rule of 6” is in force as I write and I imagine for the immediate future, this is proving to be challenging. Whilst events are a good chance for us to meet, socialise and discuss they also are a large part of our fundraising activities which enable us to Campaign in Elections and present the Conservative Voice across the constituency.
In an attempt to reduce the impact on our finances as a result of Covid-19, We will be delivering to you raffle tickets for the Conservative Christmas Draw, which has a top prize of £5000 which will kindly be distributed by our Branches. Our Association receives 75% of all the money paid for tickets by our members, with the balance going towards the prize fund and administration charges. Every ticket purchased by you or your friends will help. If you need any extra tickets please contact the office and we will be happy to send you some more.
We still have 13th December penciled in the diary for Christmas drinks with Angela Richardson, although as I am sure you will appreciate, this is being reviewed along with Government Guidelines. We will be in touch with more details closer to the date.
Thank you for your support,
Barbara Goss
