Guildford’s MP, Anne Milton, is calling for a more joined up plan to redevelop Guildford Station. Anne recently responded to Solum Regeneration’s consultation saying the plan is 'premature'. She also raised specific concerns about a number of other issues including the height of the development.
Following recent meetings with South West Trains and Network Rail to discuss the increasing overcrowding and lack of capacity on trains, Anne said that the current plans are short-sighted and there must be a more coordinated approach. Network Rail’s long term plans may include more platforms at Guildford, to take advantage of increased capacity at Waterloo.
Anne said: "I have written to Solum Regeneration with my concerns. We need a more strategic approach to the redevelopment that would tie in with plans to increase capacity at the station. This will be better for passengers, and better for Guildford. It is crucial that there is proper and considered thought by everyone, on how to make redevelopment at the station work with passengers, those who use the station facilities including the footbridge and for the rest of the town."
