Guildford's MP, Anne Milton, has welcomed news that Guildford is to benefit in the latest round of grassroots sports funding from Sport England. Surrey County Council's Living and Ageing Well project is to receive £247,532 of National Lottery funding to help get more people active.
Anne said: "This investment by Sport England is a real boost for the Living and Ageing Well project and for people in Guildford. Thanks to this funding, even more local people can get involved in playing sport and being active."
Surrey County Council’s ‘Living and Ageing Well in Surrey’ project is a programme of sport and physical activities for those aged above 50. The project will use sports that have an appeal to the older generations to get more people from these age groups active.
This latest investment brings Sport England’s total funding of community sport projects and facilities in Guildford to £1.1 million since 2010.
