Further library services will restart in Surrey from Monday 17 August. A total of 40 libraries in Surrey will be operational from that date, offering revised services.
Several libraries will newly open their doors to the public to browse, borrow and return books, whilst operating strict safety and social distancing measures. In all, 26 libraries will be open for public access. They will also offer limited use of PCs in the library buildings. Find out which libraries are open and the services available at https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/news-and-events/library-news/coronavirus. Face coverings must be worn inside all library buildings, in line with current Government guidance. Please check opening times before visiting, as these may vary from previous hours.
In addition, more libraries which have remained closed throughout recent months will begin an at-door click-and-collect service for borrowing and returning items from 17 August. The following libraries will offer click-and-collect: Ashtead, Caterham Valley, Cobham, Cranleigh, Esher, Frimley Green, Haslemere, Horsley, Merstham, Molesey, Shepperton, Stanwell, Sunbury and West Byfleet. These library buildings will remain closed to customers until September, but will offer collection and return of items outside. Find out how to order and check for details at https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/news-and-events/library-news/coronavirus
Customers can also make use of the new Ready Reads service. Tell us what you like to read and our team will hand pick books for you. These will be ready to collect from your nearest open library, including any click-and-collect library. Or, if you know exactly which books you want to read next, you can use our online catalogue as usual to reserve specific books at https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries. Reservations and Ready Reads are currently free, so start your next reading adventure today!
To ensure the library remains a safe space to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, a range of measures have been introduced. These include limits on the number of visitors at any one time, 2 metre social distancing measures, cleaning of PCs between use and the quarantining of returned stock for 72 hours before items are reissued. Enhanced cleaning will be taking place throughout the day in open library buildings.
