After running down Council finances for the last 5 years, Guildford’s Lib Dem-run Council has been making residents and our high street businesses pay the price with an
unpopular £4 minimum parking charge at Council car parks, despite hundreds signing petitions against the hike.
Local campaigner Alex Fiuza says ‘These parking charges put visitors off shopping and spending time in the town centre, hurting local business and making times tougher for our high street. Simply by changing to a fairer and more flexible £1.30 hourly rate, rather than the current minimum charge of £4 for 3 hours, the Council could bring more shoppers to Guildford, boost local business, and save residents money.’
