Guildford Conservatives was delighted to win back the division of Shalford in the Surrey County Council elections held last week.
Cllr Matt Furniss, who is also Deputy Leader of Guildford Borough Council, won the seat back from UKIP with a majority of more than 1,500 from the Liberal Democrats.
Elsewhere, the Conservatives held all other seats that they were defending - Guildford East, Guildford South East, Cranleigh and Ewhurst and Worplesdon, as well as Waverley Eastern Village, which is shared with the Waverley area.
Cllr Furniss said: "I am delighted to be the County Councillor for Shalford division now and will get to work for local people straight away."
