The latest from Surrey County Council.
Another 12 Surrey libraries will open their doors to the public in the coming days.
From Wednesday September 2, Ashtead, Caterham Valley, Cobham, Cranleigh, Esher, Haslemere, Horsley, Merstham, Molesey, Shepperton, Stanwell, and Sunbury will open up so that people can again browse, borrow and return books. Lightwater will become available for the Click and Collect service and will open for browsing from Sept 14.
In all, 38 libraries will be open for public access and will also offer limited use of PCs in the library buildings. Customers can continue to make use of the new Ready Reads service where the library team selects books based on individual preferences.
To ensure the library remains a safe space to prevent the spread of coronavirus, a range of measures have been introduced. These include limits on the number of visitors at any one time, 2 metre social distancing measures, cleaning of PCs between use, and the quarantining of returned stock for 72 hours before items are reissued. Enhanced cleaning will be taking place throughout the day in open library buildings.
Face coverings must be worn inside all library buildings, in line with current Government guidance. Please check opening times before visiting, as these may vary from previous hours.
