From 3 December 2016, Safeguard Coaches of Guildford have introduced a new bus timetable for services to Park Barn, the Royal Surrey Hospital and Aldershot Road. It is also providing a “Hospital Shuttle” from the town centre and Guildford train station to provide a direct route for staff and visitors going to the hospital.
Guildford’s MP, Anne Milton, joined staff from Safeguard and the Royal Surrey County Hospital to launch the new service and hear how this will improve access to the hospital.
Anne said: "It’s brilliant that Safeguard have increased their service to the Royal Surrey. We are so fortunate to have the family-owned Safeguard Coaches in our local area and I know that the team is working hard to ensure that buses are a reliable and accessible form of transport for all. This new service should make a big difference for staff and visitors travelling to and from the hospital."
Safeguards Coaches’ Managing Director, Andrew Halliday added: "We know that the hospital’s 3,500 staff, 280,000 annual outpatients and 70,000 patients plus visitors all have a terrible time trying to find suitable parking at the hospital and that a frequent and direct bus service from the town centre and train station just make sense. We expect that the additional services and even better monthly fares will encourage workers and visitors to use our buses, particularly at times when there is significant traffic congestion in and around Guildford."
