The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, Robert Goodwill MP, has visited Guildford to listen to local businesses at a Guildford Business Breakfast meeting. The Roads Minister then met the Leader of the Council, Cllr Stephen Mansbridge and the Lead Councillor for Infrastructure, James Palmer to discuss local traffic problems. This is an ongoing issue for Guildford Borough Council.
Issues that were discussed included: traffic congestion and the A3; noise and pollution issues; the need for upgrades to busy junctions and making the fullest use of public transport, cycling and walking routes.
Before the meeting, Anne Milton MP said: ‘I am delighted that the Minister is coming to Guildford. It is important that we get investment in this area and it is a great opportunity to show him the challenges we face – the geographic constraints, railway and river, to make sure Guildford can continue to thrive!’
