On signing a memorandum of understanding, Guildford has become the chosen pre-games training camp venue of the Antigua & Barbuda National Olympic Committee which will see athletes from this Caribbean nation train prior to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Guildford Spectrum will provide the athletics base for the team which comprises world class competitors including the world’s fourth fastest man, Daniel Bailey.
The delegation from Antigua & Barbuda and the nation’s sporting hero Sir Vivian Richards were given tours of facilities and presentations on the benefits of training in Surrey and Guildford from a business and tourism prospective which was a key motivator to the Antigua & Barbuda Olympic Committee choosing Guildford.
