Nicola Henderson, a 2011 school leaver needs your help.
Not only has she just climbed Mount Kilimanjaro which is 5895 meters high (to put into perspective Guildford Cathedral is 49 meters high), she also plans to run the grueling 26.2 miles in the London Marathon in April.
Why is she doing ‘A Marathon and A Mountain’? Well, she wants to raise support and awareness for the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC). RASASC is a UK registered charity, is local to Guildford and it needs your help. It caters to men and women, young and old, some recently abused and some others maybe 40 or 50 years ago when they were children.
Commenting on Nicola’s challenge, Anne Milton, Member of Parliament for Guildford, said: “Statistics show that 1 in 4 people are likely to suffer sexual abuse in their lives. Small charities find it difficult to raise funds particularly when dealing with issues that we avoid talking about. RASASC do an amazing job, but your money could do a lot more. Please, please put your hand in your pocket and donate generously, Nicola and RASASC need your support. You can support Nicola and donate as much as you can through her charity page: http://www.mycharitypage.com/nicolahenderson . Your money could turn a victim into a survivor.”
