Chilworth Youth Club has held a charity car wash in aid of Help for Heroes at Chilworth Infant School. The Youth Club, formed in September 2010, is entirely run by parents and community volunteers, meeting weekly throughout the year.
With over 30 young people on their books, they were also seeking to raise funds for the club itself in order to maintain equipment, and to be able to continue the services currently offered; such as group outings and visits from workshop leaders. The club won the time of the local Member of Parliament, Anne Milton, at a Voluntary Action South-West Surrey event and decided that this would be best spent washing cars for the club and Help for Heroes.
Talking about the event Anne Milton, Member of Parliament for Guildford, said: "I am delighted to support Chilworth Youth Club as they have done such a fantastic job starting and maintaining the club, and at such a high standard for all of the young members. Hand washing cars is a brilliant way to raise money and I’m also very grateful to Chilworth Infant School for their willingness to support this community project."
