Plans have been put forward to improve a major road junction in Guildford which could help ease Guildford’s traffic problems.
The £4 million proposal, which would be funded down the middle by Surrey County Council and the University of Surrey, would enable sequenced traffic lights to replace the current roundabout at the junction of Edgerton Road and Gill Avenue, near the A3. The plans also include better facilities for cyclists and a toucan crossing and new foot paths for pedestrians. No date has been set for work to start.
Speaking about the proposal, Anne Milton MP said: "Congestion in Guildford affects many local residents and I know it is a high priority for Surrey County Council to address the problem. I look forward to an improvement in traffic congestion in the future, but we need a real vision and long term approach to this."
