Anne Milton MP has welcomed the Chancellor of the Exchequer announce that local authorities can bid for a further £200 million to help repair potholes and road surface damage following the floods in December and January.
This is in addition to the extra £183.5 million provided already this year. The total of Government funding for road maintenance and repair is therefore now close to £1 billion for the coming financial year. Surrey is eligible to bid for £5,341,676 of the new pothole fund.
Anne Milton, Member of Parliament for Guildford, said: "In my car, riding my bike or running, I am only too aware of where repairs are needed locally! I am pleased that the second pothole repair fund the Chancellor included in his Budget yesterday will give the County Council more to spend to make our roads fit for everyone to use."
