Anne Milton MP voiced her concerns about Waterloo International station again today, in light of a freedom of information request which discovered that the abandoned platforms have cost taxpayers £4.1 million since they was closed in 2007.
Anne has spoken up about this issue many times before, writing to the Chief Executive of Network Rail in 2007 and 2008 to ask for platforms to be used for local trains.
Anne commented: “I have always been vocal about the bonuses that opening Waterloo International to local trains could bring to the residents of Guildford and I am so glad that others are now taking up the issue too. Many local people use services to and from London, which are frequently overcrowded and uncomfortable – to use these platforms would be a big boost for Guildford residents and to anyone travelling in the South East.”
